2026 Student Meteorology Conference at KIT
From 13 to 17 May 2026, the Student
Meteorological Conference (StuMeTa) took place at KIT. Over 200
meteorology students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland came
together to make new contacts, exchange ideas and gain insights
into our current areas of work and research.
The conference was organised with great dedication by KIT students and offered a varied programme. Professors from various research groups gave presentations on their current areas of research, thereby offering students an insight into their work. The presentations were complemented by a wide range of workshops, in which students were able to put what they had learnt into practice straight away and deepen their knowledge.
Another highlight was the poster session, during which students presented the results of their Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. The diverse contributions offered fascinating insights into current research projects and stimulated academic discussions as well as exchanges between participants.
In addition to the academic programme, our students had also organised a wide range of leisure activities in and around Karlsruhe. From a canoe trip through Heidelberg to hikes in the Black Forest and a joint closing party, there was something for everyone.
StuMeTa 2026 was a great success and demonstrated the importance of academic and personal exchange amongst meteorology students. Special thanks go to all the organisers, speakers and volunteers who made this event possible.
