The Department of Physics is responsible for the continuous development of the dynamically evolving scientific disciplines of physics, meteorology, and geophysics. It organizes teaching and academic affairs, offers degree programs, coordinates doctoral studies, and awards doctoral and habilitation degrees. At KIT, the Department is part of the "Physics and Mathematics" division. A large proportion of the Department's staff is located in the high-rise physics building near the city center of Karlsruhe, with large-scale facilities at nearby Campus North.
