The Department of Physics is responsible for the continuous development of the dynamically evolving scientific disciplines of physics, meteorology, and geophysics. It organizes teaching and academic affairs, offers the courses of study, coordinates doctoral studies, and awards doctoral and habilitation degrees. At KIT, the Department is part of the "Physics and Mathematics" division. A large part of the department's staff is housed in the physics high-rise building near the city center of Karlsruhe, with large-scale facilities at nearby Campus North
